"Firmware Problem" After a Failed Firmware Update on a MTP Player

The Firmware Problem error can be caused by an unsuccessful firmware upgrade, corrupt firmware, or corrupt music tracks. To resolve this error and reload the firmware, verify and follow procedures below:
- Download and install Service Pack 3 for Windows XP.
- Close all background applications and applications that access or use the MP3 player, including:
- Anti-virus software
- Windows Media Player
- Creative MediaSource
- Creative Media Explorer
- Creative Sync Manager
- Double click on the firmware program that you have downloaded previously to reload the firmware.
- When prompted, connect the MP3 player to your PC. Follow the directions on the screen to complete the firmware installation.
If the MP3 player is not detected by Windows as being connected, it will be necessary to clean up and format the player by booting to its Recovery Mode, and then reload the firmware.
The recovery mode will typically display the following options:

- Detach your player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.
If the player stops responding, you can reset the player first. To reset the player, gently insert a thin object into the Reset hole located below the power switch.
If the player freezes and displays "Firmware Problem, gently insert a thin object into the Reset hole located below the power while holding down the Play button.
- Press and hold the Play button while powering on your player.
- When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.
- In the Recovery Mode screen, select Clean Up, and then select Format (All).
- Detach the ZEN Vision:M player from your PC , and ensure that the unit is off.
If the battery is too low, charge the battery fully before continuing
- Slide the Power switch towards the Power icon
and hold the switch in the Power On position.
- Push the end of a pin-like object (for example, a straightened paper clip) into the reset hole, press gently and remove.
- In the Recovery Mode screen, select Clean Up, and then select Format (All).
- Detach the ZEN Vision player from your PC , and ensure that the player turned off.
- Remove the battery.
- Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the ZEN Vision. Hold the Power button until the Recovery Mode appears.
- In the Recovery Mode screen, select Clean Up, and then select Format (All).
- Detach the ZEN player from your PC , and ensure that the ZEN Sleek is turned off.
- Connect the power supply to the player.
- Hold down the Play/Pause button while inserting a paper clip into the Reset hole underneath your player, beside the data/power connector. Keep on holding the Play/Pause button while you release the Reset button. The Rescue Mode screen will then appear.
- After the recovery mode has started, release the Play/Pause button.
- In the Recovery Mode screen, select Clean Up, and then select Format (All).
- Make sure that battery is charged.
- Detach your player from your PC, and ensure that it is turned off.
- Remove the battery.
- Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the ZEN Micro. Hold the Power button until the Recovery Mode appears.
- In the Recovery Mode screen, select Clean Up, and then select Format (All).
